Wexford-based e-learning company QedON has launched ExpertEd, a shared digital learning platform enabling industry experts, trainers and organisations to create, host and sell professional online courses, as reported by the Irish Independent, with international expansion into South Africa already under development.

Based at the Hatch Lab in Gorey, Co. Wexford, QedON developed ExpertEd to address what the company identified as a structural gap in how organisations access affordable learning and development solutions without the cost of building proprietary platforms.

Susan Madden, Chief of Education at QedON, said the platform responds to a clear market need. "There was a lot of expert knowledge out there but no way for companies to acquire that unless at considerable expense," she said. "Expert Ed takes real-world expertise and turns it into structured, high-quality digital learning, in a way that is scalable and accessible."

The platform is provided in partnership with ATHE, Awards for Training and Higher Education, allowing ExpertEd courses to be endorsed against internationally recognised standards.

Dylan Smith, CEO of QedON, said South Africa represents a significant growth opportunity. "We see huge potential to support businesses and industry experts with accessible, scalable digital learning solutions while building strong international partnerships," he said.

The company is currently developing partnerships with businesses, education providers and industry organisations in South Africa as part of its international growth strategy.

QedON has secured equity funding from South African and Irish investors alongside Enterprise Ireland support, providing a financial foundation for both platform development and market expansion.

John O'Connor, CEO of The Hatch Lab, welcomed the launch, describing ExpertEd as a fantastic addition to the Gorey innovation community.
