Scholastic Corporation, the New York-based global children’s publishing and education company, has appointed Jeffrey Mathews as President of Scholastic Education, in addition to his role as Executive Vice President and Chief Growth Officer.
The division supports schools and educators with evidence-based literacy resources designed to help students reach their full potential.
Mathews has led the division as interim head since June 2025, focusing on high-impact offerings, operational efficiency, and refined go-to-market strategies. Scholastic reports that under his leadership, the team has maintained momentum in key channels, including state and local literacy partnerships, even amid funding volatility and elongated decision cycles.
Peter Warwick, Scholastic President and CEO, said, “Scholastic Education is a core part of Scholastic’s mission and a meaningful long-term opportunity for earnings growth. Over the past seven months, Jeff has brought clarity, urgency, and strong market perspective to this business during an important period of transition.”
Mathews added, “In my expanded role, I’ll be focused on deepening our impact in schools, communities and homes by sharpening our strategy and delivering high-impact learning experiences that unlock students’ potential and support educators. We have a strong foundation, a talented team, and clear opportunities ahead.”
The appointment reinforces Scholastic’s long-standing strategy of combining trusted content, literacy leadership, and deep partnerships with educators, districts, and community organisations. The division continues to prioritise sustainable growth and the delivery of learning experiences that resonate with both students and teachers worldwide.
