King's Business School has formalised a strategic partnership with King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, creating structured opportunities for students and staff from both organisations to collaborate across healthcare management, finance and business education, as reported by King's College London.
The agreement was signed by Professor Stephen Bach, executive dean of King's Business School, and Roy Clarke, Chief Financial Officer at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, at the hospital in April 2026.
As part of the initial phase, two King's Business School students are undertaking 12-month placements within the Trust's Finance Directorate as Assistant Management Accountant Trainees, placing them within core operational finance teams at the centre of a large NHS organisation.
Master's level students from the Business School have also completed consultancy-focused work within the Trust's Finance Directorate, supporting analysis of future drivers of the Trust's financial position and applying academic theory to real-world organisational challenges.
Professor Bach said the partnership reflects a broader role for business schools in complex public sector environments. "It reflects a growing recognition of the role business schools can play in contributing to large, complex regulated organisations, particularly in areas such as leadership, workforce development and operational improvement," he said.
As the partnership develops, it will extend to include mentorship and reverse mentorship opportunities, alongside access to seminars, workshops and lectures across both organisations.
The collaboration is designed to build a future talent pipeline into NHS management and finance, while strengthening the Business School's engagement with public sector leadership and operational practice.
